The road to Hana is a short distance from the North Shore but due to the winding road and scenic views it can take over two hours to arrive at this secluded community that still feels like Hawaii the ancestors walked. The popular Red Sand Beach, or Kaihalulu Beach, is a resu lt from an eroded red cinder cone and is surrounded by a natural volcanic reef. North of Hana is Waianapanapa State park where you will find pitch black sand beaches, lava tube caves and verdant tropical valleys. Held every April is the East Maui Taro Festival where the island celebrates the history of this staple food of the Hawaiians and their rich heritage.

Kipahulu Real Estate
